Event Organizers

Heather Adkins, Event Director

Heather hails from Huntsville, Alabama, but is originally from Nashville, Tennessee. She began dancing Lindy Hop in Cookeville, TN in 2007, but found Blues shortly thereafter and hasn’t stopped since. She keeps herself busy throughout the Southeast between emceeing, dancing, and cooking lots of food for events. But a large portion of her energy and time go to organizing, having served on too many local Swing and Blues dance boards to name here. Since 2015, that organizational energy has been aimed at developing BluesGeek into a must-attend annual workshop weekend.

Other Roles: Assistant Director, Ujima Blues Foundation

Amanda Adams, Assistant Event Director

Amanda Adams hails from Nashville, Tennessee, where BluesGeek got its start. Amanda has been dancing for close to seven years, dabbling in swing, Chicago steppin’, salsa, bachata, and kizomba along the way. But blues music and dance stole her heart six years ago. With her attention to detail and love for all things organization (she is an editor by trade, after all), stepping into an organizer role was inevitable. Over the years, she has helped organize local exchanges and workshops (including former BluesGeeks) and served as secretary and vice president of the Blues Dance Nashville board. She whole-heartedly believes in the mission of the Ujima Blues Foundation and BluesGeek and is excited to follow the event to St. Louis!
